Having completed her Seattle concert on Thursday (4/4/13) Rihanna has
returned to her primary home in Los Angeles no doubt to inspect the
damage done by the SWAT team. Personally I think this is a good thing
because no matter how flash the hotel you're staying in it's still
really annoying to wake up in the morning and not have a clue where the
light-switches are.
The only problem with Rihanna's return to LA is that it puts her within
spitting distance of Chris Brown. Brown of course appeared in Court in
LA yesterday to answer allegations that he perverted the course of
justice by fraudulently claiming to have completed community service
work relating to his 2009 assault of Rihanna. Not much is known about
Brown's Court appearance because it was an in chambers hearing attended
only by Brown, his attorney, a LA County prosecutor and Judge James
Bradlin. Apparently at the 25 minute hearing two sealed envelopes of
information relating to Brown's community service were entered into
evidence. Judge Bradlin that granted a continuance in the case until
June 10th 2013 (10/6/13) for this evidence to be considered. The purpose
of this latest move is clearly to allow Brown the freedom to reunite
with Rihanna during her tour whilst attempting to force other parties to
expose their intelligence gathering networks to find out the contents
of those sealed envelopes. I doubt many will bother though because for
this evidence to alter the outcome of the case in any way it will have
to prove how hundreds of witnesses along with thousands of photographs
and video are lying about Brown's whereabouts on dates he's claimed to
be performing community service.
The strength of the case against Brown was reflected in the parties
reaction to the hearing. Brown's attorney Marc Geragos seemed overjoyed
at the outcome no doubt in the belief that it will do wonders for his
reputation as a defence attorney. Brown on the other hand seemed
depressed and nervous which seems to be an indication that he knows that
he has committed the offence.
I am still awaiting international reaction to this latest hearing but I
think it will be extremely unlikely that anyone will be prepared to
discuss the issue of Mali until June 10th.
Also the Swatting trend has continued in LA with Justin Timberlake and
Selena Gomez being the latest targets in an effort to add to the drama
surrounding Brown's hearing. So in response to the Timberlake incident I
should point out that while I'm in Wiltshire my father is still most
certainly at home.
