As I've been catching up on the news I've heard a rumour that the
Egyptian military will today move in to disperse the Muslim Brotherhood
encampments at the Rabea al-Adaweya Mosque in Nasr city and in Al-Nahda
Square in New Cairo city. This concerns me for two main reasons;
Firstly by deliberately moving women and children into the two camps
and issuing public statements calling for their supporters to lay down
their weapons and protest peacefully it is clear that the Brotherhood
will be doing everything in their power to provoke a 'massacre' by the
security forces. After all they have spent the weekend fortifying the
barricades and arming guards with crash helmets and billy clubs in order
to protect the 'martyrs.'
Secondly the military have yet to announce where the protesters will be dispersed to.
Therefore hope that the first move against the Brotherhood's camps will
be the military setting up cordons to prevent more people and supplies
joining the camps.
